

He was preceded in death by his parents.
Richard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jerrianne (Allen) Bonenberger, daughter Stephanie Bonenberger (Blake Taylor) and son, John Bonenberger (Gabby Ingersoll), brother, Robert Bonenberger, and a niece and nephews.
Over 50 years ago, Richard placed an ad in the newspaper to form a club for avid Hot Rodders. This club became E’ville Iron Street Rods and started the annual Frog Follies. Rick served as an 8 time president of E’ville Iron and was the annual emcee of the Frog Races at the Frog Follies. Richard was avid collector of many cars and gas and oil memorabilia. He was also a member of the Woody Club, Huppmobile club and National Street Rod Association. Richard was extremely proud that his ‘33 Ford Delivery was featured on the cover of Street Scene magazine and his ’30 Ford Roadster Pickup was a Pro’s Pick and won the Top Commercial award at the Street Rod Nationals. Richard enjoyed traveling to Rod Runs across the country and attended the Street Rod Nationals every year.
Richard grew up as a member of Central United Methodist Church and is a current member of Old North United Methodist Church. He served as a trustee for Old North.
At the age of 17, Richard and his brother Robert took over Farm Boy Meats and Big B Barbecue after the death of their father. They grew the business to include food distribution and deliver products to a four-state region. Richard took pride in working with independent barbecue companies across the country to manufacture their individual labels. He served as Vice President of Farm Boy and President of Big B. He was also proud that both of his children had worked for the company.
Richard graduated from North High School in 1967 where he served as Senior President. Richard graduated from the University of Evansville in 1971 and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025 at Old North UMC, officiated by Rev. Craig Duke, with burial to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Alexander North Chapel and from 10:00 a.m. until service time at church on Friday.
