

Dick retired as the Director of Career and Employment Services from Ivy Tech Community College. He was currently the Admissions Tele-Counselor at Ivy Tech and formerly worked at Mead Johnson and Medco.
Dick was very active in the community serving on many boards, clubs, and committees. He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ and St. James West United Methodist Church. He served as a Deacon on church council at St. Paul’s. Dick was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
He graduated from Reitz High School in 1954. Dick was the President of the Big Blue Boosters and an avid supporter of Reitz athletics. He also graduated from Indiana State University of Evansville.
Dick enjoyed going to sporting events and watching his grandchildren. He loved spoiling his dog, Domino.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jane Hettenbach in 2000; parents, Clarence Hettenbach and Marie Eubanks; and his sister, Brenda Effinger.
Dick is survived by his wife of 7 years, Stella Hettenbach; son, Jeff Hettenbach (Connie) of Grayson, GA; son, Scott Hettenbach (Crissy); grandchildren, Jessica, Nichelle, Jenna, Zachary, and Sidney; stepchildren, John Vennard III, Jacque Hughes (Eric) and Jolynda Ivers; step-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jonna, Ashley, Kayla, Erin, Cynthia, Alandra, and Tanner; great-grandchildren, Addison and Elizabeth; sisters, Susie Underwood, Peggy Young, and Rita Dame; aunt, uncle, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, August 27, 2010, at St. Paul’s UCC, 2227 W. Michigan Street, officiated by Rev. Jeff Long and Rev. Gene Backes with burial at Alexander Memorial Park where military services will be conducted. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel and Friday from 9:00 AM until service time at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s UCC or St. James West UMC.
