

He was an Air Force veteran who served in the Korean War. Richard participated in the Honor Flight of Southern Indiana in October of 2017. He was a devoted member of First Christian Church and served as president of Manpower of Evansville for 25 years. Richard was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He worked very hard for his family. Richard was a Scout Master for Troop 19 and also an Explorer Advisor. He was an accomplished wood worker and carver, as well as an oil painter. Richard started a wood carving group at church with his friend, Dan, called the Woodchucks.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill McKasson; and sister, Sharon Shelton.
He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Joette McKasson; son, Mike McKasson (Vicki); daughter, Cindy Hicks (Keith); grandchildren, Bryan Hicks (Tammy), Kate McKasson (Josh Burger), Kenton McKasson (Marilyn), Kyle Hicks (Rachel), and Drew Hicks (Leann); seven great grandchildren; brother, Henry McKasson; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2024 at First Christian Church, officiated by Rev. Michael Lookebill and Rev. Matt Silen, with burial to follow in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit from 9:00 a.m. until service time at church.
