

He was a veteran of the US Army. Richard retired from Swift Packing Company, where he worked in accounting, until they left town and then retired from RSC, where he worked as a coordinator. He was a 30 year member of Christ Church UCC, where he sang in the church choir. He was a 45 year member, the longest continuous member, of the Philharmonic Chorus. One of the highlights of Richard’s life was his trip to Rome with the Philharmonic Chorus. He started with the Evansville Civic Theater in 1962, where his first show was Little Mary Sunshine. He helped open the theater at Fulton and Columbia in 1974, where he had a major role in Cabaret. He performed in many comedies, dramas, and musicals, performing continuously until the year 2000. He continued to be a staunch supporter of the theater and promoter of the arts.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Pauline E. Sidener.
He is survived by his caretakers, Mike and Misty Embry; and many other cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Michael Erwin, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. The Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club will perform Military Rites at the cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
