The Lord opened heavens gate and lifted the Best Dad to heaven. Robert (Bob) Gene Braun, 76, passed away peacefully in his sleep at St. Vincent Hospital on March 20, 2020.

He was born to the late Elmer Braun and Ruth (Schmidt) on April 16, 1943, at home in Newburgh, IN.

Bob was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church on Volkman Rd in Evansville, IN. He met his beautiful wife, Betty Lou Braun (Rogers) and they were married January 6, 1962 in a snowstorm, which caused her to be an hour late.

He would join the United States Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. While Bob was serving in the Air-Force-they were blessed with their only child Gina Lou, Born at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Gina blessed Bob with 3 grandchildren, Jessica Roni Garrett-Sutherland (Terrence) of Newburgh, IN, Wallace Wade Garrett of El Myra, NY and Bradley Hugh Garrett of Indianapolis, IN; great-grandchildren, Brianna Aimee' Hoye and Amaya LeNaye Stith. All of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of his life.

Once Robert received an honorable discharge from United States Air-Force. He began with Sigeco (Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Company) working from the bottom to the top. When Sigeco was bought by Alcoa, Dad was in the Control Room and was promoted to Control Operator. He retired in 2008 after 42 years. He loved that placed and made many friends that he kept in contact.

Dad attended Luce Township High School with his favorite thing to do was Calculus and track. Avid reader with having read over 700 books. He would read 3 books at once and knew each of them.

He was proceeded in Death by his parents, love of his life Wife Betty, and sister-in-law (Margie Braun). He is survived by brothers Edd of Lake Havasu, AR (Carol), John of Richland, IN (Brenda), sister Carolyn Dooley of Haubstadt, IN (Roland), and several Nieces and Nephews.

I want to give special thanks to the nurses that helped while Dad was in ICU especially Kayla and several others. These wonderful ladies were so caring and compassionate through this hard time.
