Robert Joseph Dennis Sr.

Robert Joseph Dennis, Sr., 66, of Indianapolis, IN, formerly of Haubstadt, IN, passed away Sunday, September 8, 2013, at Bethany Village Nursing Home in Indianapolis. He was born February 15, 1947, in Evansville. He attended Reitz High School and was a 1965 graduate of North High School. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Mediterranean during the Vietnam Era. He started his career at International Steel and Paul Eissler’s Body Shop and later worked at Grimm Lumber Company as a cabinet maker. He then became an independent contractor and for over twenty years, specialized in furniture, cabinetry and trim work. Bob was a member of the Newburgh Corvette Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, of 26 years, Joyce Marie Dennis in 1998; and his parents, Reuben William Dennis, Sr. and Elsie Lee (Scott). Bob is survived by his daughter, Shelley Llamas and son-in-law, David Llamas of Indianapolis; son, Robert J. Dennis, Jr. of Newburgh, grandchildren, Emilee, Isaac, Evan, and Isabella; brother, Bill Dennis of California City, CA; sister, Linda Bush of Salem, OR, Aunt, Selma Beaty of Kansas; numerous cousins, including Mary Dennis of Boonville and David Scott of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Alexander North Chapel, with burial at Salem Cemetery in Darmstadt. Military Honors will be performed by the Vanderburgh County Retired Veterans Memorial Club. Friends may visit Wednesday, 2-8 PM, and Thursday, 12 PM until service time at the funeral home.
