Robert L Hart Jr.

He served in the US Navy from 1946 – 1950 and went on to serve as Special Deputy for the Vanderburgh County Sheriff's Department. Bob also served as Vanderburgh County Correction Director. After retiring he worked part time at Burger King. Bob attended Bible Center- The Cathedral where he was a member and sang in the early morning service before attending Sunday School. He also enjoyed playing clabber. Bob was civic minded throughout his life. He supported the Young Democrats and volunteered during local elections.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 69 years, Bettye (Koch) Hart; son, Robert Hart III and his wife, Mary Hart; and great grandson, Rhett McCurdy.

He is survived by his daughter, Victoria Gilbreath (Gary); grandchildren, Shelli Gilbreath (Chris), Nikki Wooten, Todd Wooten (Priscilla), and Robert Hart IV (Amanda); 12 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 at Alexander North Chapel. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
