He graduated from Reitz High School. Robert was an Army Veteran stationed in Korea and served in the Civil Air Patrol. He served in the Army Band as part of the 7th Infantry Division. During WWII he worked at Republic Aviation manufacturing the P-47 Thunderbolt.
He retired from Sterling Brewery in 1988.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Mabrey; son, David Mabrey; twin sons, Donald and Ronald.
He is survived by his daughter, Sandra Embry and husband Arthur; sons, Dan Mabrey and wife Vicky and John Mabrey and wife Cassandra; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, March 15, 2013 at Alexander North Chapel with burial at New Salem Campground Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
