Robert G Smith

Robert was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved nature, gardening, and took great pride in caring for his lawn. Many admired him for his incredibly strong work ethic, determination, and perseverance throughout his life. He cherished his faith and family. As a gifted musician, Robert never came across an instrument he couldn’t play. He was blessed with a close-knit family that meant the world to him. His greatest love and “soul mate” Norma Jean, passed away in March of this year. They were married for 65 wonderful years and still shared the stories of their first date until their dying days. He missed his wife terribly and couldn’t wait to join her in Heaven.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean; parents, and siblings, Mary, Norma, Claudel, Wonell, and Linda.

He is survived by his sister, Joyce Montgomery (Donnie); son, Robert Duane (Candace) Boonville, IN; daughters, Debbie Neese (Eric) of Evansville, IN, Donna Boyer of Evansville, IN, and Diana Hoeche (Brian) of Boonville, IN, as well as his great grandchild, Sadie Smith of Evansville, IN. whom he raised.

He had ten grandchildren, Dawn, Amber, Sarah, Amy, Dillon, Brandon, Janay, Benny, David, and Nathan; and twelve great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2022 at at Alexander North Chapel. Friends may visit on Friday, July 22, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The funeral service will be viewable via livestream at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA
