

Robert B. (Bob) Wimsatt, affectionately known as Bob, was born on June 29, 1948, in Evansville, Indiana, and passed away on February 21, 2025. A devoted husband, father, friend, and cherished member of his community, Bob’s life was a testament to strength, creativity, and resilience.
Bob served in the Army as a paratrooper. After his service, he embraced several passions and professions. He found great pride in his work as a coal miner and as the bulldozer operator at Amax Ayrshire Mine in Chandler, Indiana. In addition, Bob enjoyed the challenges and rewards of running his own business installing garage doors and windows.
Beyond his professional achievements, Bob was a creative soul. He spent countless hours indulging in wood carving and woodworking, and other activities showcasing his artistic talents. His love for golfing brought him joy, providing moments of relaxation and camaraderie. Even after an accident left him a quadriplegic, Bob’s spirit remained unbroken; he discovered a new passion in creating with his 3-D printer.
Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Mary Jeanne Wimsatt; his children, Erin Shrull (married to Nick Shrull) and Angie Stanley (married to Chad Stanley); his grandchildren, Mary Stanley, Jesse Stanley, and Samantha Shrull; and his great-grandchildren, Jasper Stanley and Garrett Hicks. He is also remembered by Don Siekman; his siblings, Jane Hoskins, Ginny Wortz, and James Siekman.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Siekman, and his father, Robert Wimsatt Sr.
Bob’s legacy of perseverance, helpful spirit, and unyielding creativity will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
