IN THE CARE OF
Alexander Funeral Home-West Chapel
Robert D. Winstead went to be with the Lord January 5, 2019 after a long illness. Bob was born January 26, 1930 to Roy and Gladys Winstead.
Bob had several occupations before settling upon his passion as a horse trainer. Bob was known for his “hands-on” hard work and performed nearly every aspect of horse care. He made many friends on the backside of Ellis Park and was a charter member of the “Liar’s Club” in the track kitchen. Bob loved his 3 daughters and was always eager to help them with car and home repairs.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roy Jr. and Chester Winstead
He is survived by his wife of 68 years Yvonne (Topper) Winstead; daughters, Linda Weber (Tim), Donna Hamilton (John), and Robin Peck; brother, Bill Winstead (Barbara); sister-in-law Bessie Winstead; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a dog, Bella.
There will be a private family burial on Friday, January 11, 2019.
The family thanks Deaconess VNA Hospice for their care of Bob. The family also recognizes and appreciates the round-the-clock care provided by Robin and Yvonne, which enabled Bob to remain at home in the final months of his life.
