Dad, I've been doing a lot better than I thought I would. It hurts to still think that you're permanently gone. There are still things I'm getting used to and things I need to do, but I'm trying to take it a day at a time. I wish you were here so I could share the funny and interesting stories I have of my internship so far. I think you'd really enjoy them. I'm constantly reminded of you, because I know that the old state hospital was rebuilt the year you were born. I know you're not suffering anymore, but gosh what I would give for just one day to see you again. My heart hurts so badly when I consider those last 2 weeks. I catch myself fixating, but I have to shake it, because I get really upset. I don't really regret anything. I just wish you could have met Lee. I think you'd approve greatly. You know how I was always giving and doing things for the other person? Now it's the opposite, and I know you'd love that. You always made sure I was taken care of and wanted whoever I was with to do the same. Now I can say I still am being taken care of. I miss you so much. I love you.

Over 30 years or so, I played music with butch on occasions. He was a fine musician and well liked by those who knew him. He will be missed on this earth. May God Bless family and loved ones in this time of loss and sorrow.

I was so Blessed to known Butch for many years and I will truly  miss Butch singing      ( Pink Cadillac) every time I came to see him sing he was always smiling /so  kind to everyone. Sending thoughts / Prayers to all of the family.

Oh how lucky are all the angels in heaven to now be serenaded by my dear sweet friend.

You were a great singer. A good man. And as far as casual friends you were the best to Steve and me.

Allison and I are so very sorry to hear of Butch's passing. I feel very fortunate to consider Butch a very close friend. He always greeted Allison and I with a big grin when we would walk into Bobs to hear him, and would always play one of her favorites for her, Kawliga. She loved the way he did that song! I admired him as a man, and certainly as an outstanding performer. He will be joining so many great musicans and performers we have lost recently including Jewel Dukes, Jimmy Nall, and my dearest friend and fellow band member Danny Eli. Rest in peace my friend. You've got some great company to share eternity with!

Daddy, it's still somewhat surreal that you're gone. I knew it would come someday, but this soon? I know you hated seeing me cry, but I could never shed enough tears over you. I know we had our differences, we were stubborn, and we got on each others nerves sometimes. But we had so many amusing moments... I don't regret very much in our relationship, either. I was there for you like you were there for me. You were ALWAYS there for me. My heart just hurts so badly. I'm grateful I was there so you weren't alone. That was always one of my biggest fears. I find comfort knowing now that you can rest easy... never have to struggle again. You'll hear me say more Wednesday, but I just want you to know I think of you every minute. My life has been completely altered, but I promise to stay strong and keep making you proud. Diablo misses you, too, by the way. I love you immensely. I'm off to finish working on this awesome collage of you and the family.
