A devoted wife, friend, mother, and grandmother, Rosella M Newton passed away on June 30, 2025. She was 88 years of age. She was an Oklahoma native and moved with her parents and six siblings to Baton Rouge, LA, later in childhood. Rosella met Clarence in their teens and they married in 1955. She briefly went to college at LSU alongside him, but decided to pursue motherhood. They quickly started a family and had three children.
They moved to Henderson, Ky, in the 60's - where Clarence worked as an electrical engineer. They loved to travel on annual family trips all across North America. She spent her time gardening, keeping up with and enjoying her three children, seven grandkids, and seven great grandkids. She was very devoted to her family and never missed the opportunity to show it. She cherished her beautiful cats, liked movies, doing various crafts, reading, singing songs from her youth, was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed collectibles. She will always be remembered as a loving woman with a great sense of humor. Her smile and bright eyes lit up a room. She will be greatly missed.
Rosella was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L Newton (Henderson, KY); parents, Floyd L Marston, Sr and Clara M Burchfiel Marston (Baton Rouge, LA); brothers, Floyd L Marston, Jr (Baton Rouge, LA) and John Marston, Sr (Baton Rouge, LA); sisters, Eddie Marston Hodges (Amite, LA), Mary Marston Smith (Baton Rouge, LA) and Rebecca Elaine Marston (Central, LA); and son, Gary A Newton (Eustis, FL).
She is survived by her sister, Shirley Marston Gates (Southlake, Texas); children, Carolyn Jones (Henderson, KY), Brenda McGrath (Steve) (Apopka, FL); grandchildren, Rachel Goad (James), Ryan Jones, Shannon Lewis, Robin Jones, Heidi Meeds (Brady), Jessica Newton, and Gregory Newton; great grandchildren, Magdalaena, MaKenzee, Autumn Rayne, Rolland, Audrey, Jameson and Rosemarie.
