She graduated from Centennial Grade School and F. J. Reitz High School and attended a few courses at Evansville Business College. She worked four and one-half years for General Electric Company and was a business secretary for Henry O. “Hank” Roberts during the four years he was Mayor of Evansville. She then “retired” to marry and raise her two sons. Ruby started her musical career as the lead singer for a band. She loved musicals, trying out for the Chorus and in the fifties she sang light opera for productions such as the Vagabond King, Brigadoon and the Red Mill, which came direct from Cincinnati and performed at the Mesker Amphitheater. She loved music, nature (stopping often to pick up a turtle out of the road) and especially her four cats, Satin, Tic Toc, Bobby and Sissy.
Ruby was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan Marie; and her husband, John Robert.
She is survived by her sons, David John (Ginny) of Lexington, KY and Patrick Roy of Evansville; three dear grandchildren, Julisa of Lexington, KY, Kelsey Marie and Dustin Robert of Evansville; sister, Pearl Culley; and two nephews, Steve and Robert Culley.
