Ruth H. Collins

Ruth worked 28 years for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation as a cafeteria manager. She started as a dishwasher at the old Central High School and eventually moved up to manager at Delaware grade school. She spent time at several schools throughout Evansville.

She loved bowling in her later years until her eyesight began to fail. She also took great enjoyment from her dogs, Sam and Max.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Collins and brother, William G. Rose, Jr.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Buffy) Horstman (Carl, Jr) of Yankeetown; sons, James R. Collins (Debbie) and Joseph W. Collins (Kathy); grandchildren, Christopher Collins (Stephanie), Drew Collins, Megan Collins of Evansville; great-grandson, Allen James Collins of Evansville; sister, Doris Nickens of Evansville.

Services will be 9:00 AM Monday, September 13, 2010, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Fr. Kenneth Herr with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home.
