Obituary of Sandra "Sandy" Kay Melton
Sandra Kay Hunt Spunky, 5 foot nothing, 76 year old Sandra Kay Melton passed away peacefully and pain free at the Linda White Hospice House on March 1, 2021 while family and friends laid their hands on her, prayed and spoke to her. Her last loving gesture was 2 tears that rolled down her face with her last breath. We believe one was for all those she loved and would miss and the other one for the beautiful sight of Jesus in Heaven. Sandy spent her life loving her late husband George for 47 years, raising their 4 children, Denise, Sherry, Joey and Deshay, chasing her 11 grandchildren and always trying to count her 18 great grandchildren anytime someone asked about them. She was a member of Keck Baptist Church and spent many years as a Sunday School teacher at Grace Baptist Church. She was proud of being a secretary in her adult life and retiring from Cummins Diesel. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning the vegetables from their garden, throwing parties with fun interactive games, big Sunday dinners for anyone that stopped by, dancing in the kitchen and working in her yard. Pulling weeds in the sunshine was her happy place! She also enjoyed going on vacations with her husband and all of their couples friends. She truly enjoyed being with and around people. Her house was always open and full of food, family and friends. She loved to tell stories about growing up with her sisters Sharon and Debbie, summers spent with the crazy cousins, aunts and uncles in Kentucky and life lessons learned from her parents Lloyd and Susie Hunt. She proudly became a “Nana” when she was 41 and a “great Nana” at 59. She was the cool aunt at age 27 and loved road trips to Indianapolis to visit her 6 nieces and nephews. She met her very best life long friend and future sister in law, Linda Melton at Boetticher and Kellogg when she was 24. The Hacienda margaritas and antics of these two were highlights of Sandy’s life! If you knew her, you knew you were loved unconditionally! A Celebration of Life Open House will be held at Burdette Park on Saturday March 6, 2021 at the Bishea Shelter. It is next to the playground and basketball court so kids will be entertained! Family and friends are encouraged to stop by, share a story and enjoy some food from 12:00pm-5:00pm. WEAR RED IN HONOR OF HER FAVORITE COLOR AND POSSIBLY BE READY TO DANCE!
