Obituary of Sharon D. Carson
Sharon D. (Wills) Carson, 81, passed away Sunday, May 7, 2017, at St. Vincent Evansville, due to complications from diverticulitis. She was born July 23, 1935, to the late Everett and Verona (Snider) Wills in Tell City, IN. She graduated from Tell City High School and moved to Evansville to work for oral surgeon, Dr. Montgomery as a dental assistant. Later on, she managed an Elaine Powers Fitness Salon and two American Girl spas, all in Evansville. In 1980, she married Jack Carson and moved to Henderson, KY, where she opened and operated Sharon Carson Total Fitness Center. Eventually, she and Jack became part-owners of the commercial building where her business was located. She remained actively involved in the management of this building until it was recently sold. She then moved to Evansville to be near family. Sharon was an avid IU basketball fan. She bequeathed her body to medical science at IU School of Medicine. She was a warm, kind, inviting person who always had a positive attitude. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Sharon was preceded in death by her husbands, Kenneth Grall, Paul Jenkins, and Jack Carson; daughter, Vicky Schofield; son, Ken Carson; and parents. She is survived by her daughters, Karen (Jason) Reffett, Judy (Todd) Chambers, and Elaine (Roger) Doering; son-in-law, John Schofield; daughter-in-law, Melanie Carson; grandchildren, Shannon (Steve) Arnold, Matt (Sarah) Reffett, Cory (Meghan) Reffett, Kristin Reffett, Ashley Chambers, Jordan Chambers, Jessica Schofield, Adam Schofield, Andrea Carr, Alena Carr, Amanda Carr, Jonathan Carr, and Natalie Carson; great-grandchildren, Sydney Arnold, Samuel Arnold, Steven Arnold, Layla Reffett, Jack Reffett, and Ryan Muellers; sisters, Joy (Michael) Ferriolo and Janet Wheeler; and brother, Steven (Cindy) Wills. Memorial Services will be 5:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2017, at Alexander East Chapel, conducted by Celebrant Carrie Hatchett.
