

Shelia Maria Chester was born July 16, 1954 in Evansville In to the union of William James Porter and Sarah Francis (Hobson) Porter and passed away March 18, 2015. She was youngest of 9 children (three girls & six boys). Her father, mother, and five of her siblings preceded her in death: Emma, Mary Elizabeth, David, Jackie, and Charles. Brothers Ellis, Willie, & Larry Clark remain.
Shelia married Joe Chester Jr., and gave birth to two children Joe Melvin Chester III ( Germany) and Shelantea Moray Fisher (Evansville). She is survived by her two children, their spouses (Walter Henry Fisher, Esther Chester) 7 grandchildren: Lakessia (Germany), Karae (Louisville), Kyren, Kylen, Hosiah, Jehanna, Benaiah (all of Evansville), a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews, and her BFF, Nicole Kirnon.
Shelia was always active and busy. She starred in several productions as Mahalia, wrote and performed a tribute to Mayor Russell Lloyd, was crowned Evansville’s first Miss Hospitality, Recorded the record album titled, Chester Sounds, and Performed with her band and various artist. She was a graduate from Benjamin Bosse High School with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Evansville.
Memorial Service will be held at Church of the Harvest, 7825 Oakhill Rd Evansville In 47725 March 28: Gathering at 9:30 am, Service at 11:00 am.
