She enjoyed sports and was an athlete in high school. Her favorite sport was volleyball; both of her daughters played and Shirley never missed a game.
Shirley is survived by her children, Tony, Stephanie, and Stacey Ellis; sister, Jo Newton-Bird; nieces, Mallory Lowe and Sterling Young; and brother-in-law, Ron Young.
Celebration of Life services will be 4:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Grace and Peace Lutheran Church, 200 South Boeke Road, Evansville, IN 47714. Funeral services and burial will take place in Rockdale, TX on July 30, 2016.
