She retired from Wackenhut Security in 2002. She loved to dance, crochet and work crossword puzzles, and was a very loving person to all.
Shirley was preceded in death by her sisters, Ernestine Essex and Matharene Baxley; and her parents.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Susan) Rideout of Evansville, IN, Robert Rideout of Columbus, GA and Kenneth (Melissa) Rideout of Abilene, TX; daughter, Darla Rideout (Perry) Thompson of Summerville, SC; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; sisters, Laverne Preskitt of Wetumpka, AL, Edna Jenkins of Phoenix City, AL, Betty Willard of Bentonville, AR and Patricia Webster of Columbus, GA; brother, Ernest Pippin, Jr of Lee County, AL; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place at a later date.
