Sophie Grace Rinehart, 17, of Newburgh, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016, along with her father, David Gary Rinehart, and grandmother, Ruth Ann Rinehart. She was born October 25, 1999, in Evansville, IN, to Lucinda Rinehart and the late David Gary Rinehart.

She was a junior at Castle High School, where she was a member of the marching band and show choir. Her love for music drove her to excel in all aspects of performance. Many people said she had the voice of an angel. Sophie led worship for youth and was a leader and mentor to other students at her home church. She had a strong desire to lead others in genuine Christ worship. It was her heart to pursue music ministry following college. Her favorite saying was, “We’ve got to love and care for people better to show them the love of Jesus.” Sophie not only mentored friends, she fiercely loved and supported her family. She was sunshine.

Sophie is survived by her mother, Lucinda Hinton Rinehart; sisters, Josie Kirsten and Rylie Kendall Rinehart; grandmother, Debbie Lynch; grandfathers, Bob Lynch and Gary Rinehart; and countless loving extended family members and friends.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, November 17, 2016, at Crossroads Christian Church, officiated by Pastor Ken Idleman and Pastor Todd Bussey, with private burial in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and 10:00 AM until service time at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the David and Sophie Rinehart Memorial Fund at any Fifth Third Bank location. Condolences may be made online at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.

Sophie, I saw you just twice in my life but I didn't have words when I saw you performing. After boa regionals I wanted to meet you. and to me you were so beautiful and so talented I wanted to become like you. I also play the flute and I was truly moved when I sat in the audience at Indianapolis. You had a gift and this proves you impacted others with it. Ive always wanted to share how important you are to even someone you've never actually met.
Maybe we will meet someday

Hey Soph, it has been a long time, like a really long time for our class. We all miss you so, so much. We are seniors now, but it is hard to believe that you won't be there with us other than in spirit, at our graduation. we love you so very much. It has been really hard to not have anyone to talk to about this without them understanding how we all feel. Our last conversation will forever be ingrained in my mind. I love you Soph.

I saw the performance myself as many band kids did, and we were all so excited that you guys - Castle - had someone like you. How blessed they were to see a talented girl like you. And so religious too. Rest in Peace.

Condolences go out to the Castle HS Marching Band and the Rinehart family; I will keep them in my thoughts. In the small clips of their show Sophie's struck chords of youth, inspiration and passion.

I was so stunned about the shocking news. I know what you're going through at the moment; I feel your grief and pain. I am an alumni of the Castle Marching Knights and Sophie was born around the time I was in the band when after we placed 5th in the State Finals on a Saturday of that year. My prayers and condolences are with you and the entire Castle Marching Knights. God Bless.
