OBITUARY

Steven Ray Clark

October 2, 1951April 29, 2018

Steven Ray Clark, 66, of Evansville, passed away on April 29, 2018. He was born October 2, 1951, to the late Charles and Maggie Clark.

Steve’s life was always involved with water and boats. His love of the water began as a lad with his father on the Ohio River. As the years passed, Steve was never far from the river bank. The river was his home, it was where he wanted to be.

Steve’s adventures on the river ran the gamut, from rebuilding classic wooden boats, to boat trips to the lake, helping boaters in distress, and saving lives. Steve’s presence on the river truly made a difference.

The river was not only a place for play, but work, as well. Steve spent several years as a mechanic at Inland Marina, and later ran the river patrol boat as a Vanderburgh County Deputy Sheriff. He also worked in civil processing, and completed his career in courthouse security.

Steve loved the river so much that he and Danna were married on a houseboat in the middle of the Ohio River at mile marker 792 in August, 2000. Steve loved living on their houseboat and their house next to Plaza Boat Club. The parties were always the best. Steve was always surrounded by great friends from all walks of life, people he cared about and who cared about him.

Steve’s ideal day on the river was: the houseboat anchored on the pump out, sand between his toes, a horseshoe in one hand and a beer in the other, the aroma of ribs and smoke from the grill, the reflection of sun on the water, warm summer air, and a crowd of friends debating the issues of the day. The picture is complete with Danna by his side.

Steve lived a good life. He will be missed. Steve attended Stanley Hall Grade School, Bosse and North High Schools, and was a proud member of the United States Marines.

He is survived by his wife, Danna; son, Craig Clark (Jamie); step-daughter, Amy Harpole; grandchil-dren, Cortney Adams, Kierah Gray, Paisley Clark, Kobe Gray, and Piper Clark; sister, Tina Evans; nieces, Cameron West, Shannon Wilson; nephew, Dylan West; great niece, Kaitlyn Wilson; great neph-ews, Tyler Wilson, Austin Williams; other nieces and nephews; and countless friends.

I am honored to have worked with Steve at the Sheriff's Office. To say he was a great guy is an understatement. I had a lot of fun working with him! Steve and Danna always welcomed me when I was able to stop by, even after Steve retired. Rest easy, brother. Thinking about you Danna.
