Steven Clarence Schmuck

Steve graduated from Reitz High School in 1969. He had many skills, including welding, farming, craftsmanship, and BBQ pitmaster. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Steve was an avid fisherman and hunter. But above all, he was a devoted husband, Daddy, Grandpa / Pop Pop and best friend.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Frances Schmuck; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Maxine Curl; and grandsons, Casey and Jonathon Jones.

Steve is survived by his wife of 54 years, Virginia “Jenny” (Curl) Schmuck; daughters, Melissa Engler (Jeff), Kathy Jones (Joseph), Teri Mills (Adrian) and Julie Sammet (Nick); grandchildren, Cody Engler, Kristy Engler, Kenny Jones (DaeLainey), Emalee Jones, Ellie Mills, Isaac Sammet and Logan Sammet; sisters-in-law, Connie Curl and Sue Curl (late, Allen); brothers-in-law, Lynn Curl (Ellen) and J Curl (Karen); several nieces and nephews; fishing buddies and grumpy old men; and not to be left out, Steve’s cats, Sylvester and Itsy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, March 11, 2025 followed by a fellowship meal at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1925 Volkman Rd., Evansville, IN, officiated by Pastor Kirk Horstmeyer.

A graveside service will follow at Zoar United Church of Christ Cemetery, 4600 Church Rd., Evansville, IN.

Friends may visit on Monday, March 10, 2025 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois St., Evansville, IN and on Tuesday, from 10:00 am until service time at the church.
