I am sorry to hear of the passing of Thelma Brittingham.  I can still picture her to this day in her starched white uniform on the pediatric unit. I was also in the Class of 1964 and I remember her dismissing our class when we heard that President John F. Kennedy had been shot.

I first met 'Aunt Thelma' in 2001. I always enjoyed visiting Thelma. She was such a sweet and kind lady. She will be dearly missed by all she knew and touched in life. My sincere sympathy to all her family.

Although I knew her as Aunt Thelm, to many she was Thelma or Miss Brittingham.  Whether she was an aunt, a friend or a teacher, she found a way to touch all of our hearts.  Even though I only met her three years ago, I feel like I've known her forever after hearing about her many exciting adventures and experiences.  She was a wonderful woman and she'll be missed greatly.  Kent, Debi, Lyndi and Tad, you've been in my thoughts during this time.   I know she meant a lot to you, and you all meant to the world to her.

I am a 1964 graduate of Protestant Deaconess Hospital nursing program, and, "Miss Brittingham" was absolutely one of my favorite instructors.  Her compassion for us as students and the children on Deaconess' Peds unit was ever present.  In fact, my class was the first not to go for affiliation to Riley Children's Hospital at IU so we, as seniors, were the first students of Miss Brittingham's program.  To this day, I call children "kiddos" and not "kids" because Miss B. said children are not "billy goats"!  It certainly was my pleasure to have known and been a student of this lovely lady! Thelma was a special lady.  I met her thru her next door neighbor and fell in love with the 'chicken house' as her home was called and bought it when she determined it was time to move on to Assisted Living at Holiday.  We enjoyed many conversations before and after I bought her home.  I will keep fond memories of her always.  Her neighbor Bob Kohmescher and I will miss her.  Martha Uhl (Eville, IN)

Miss Brittingham was my nursing instructor at the University of Evansville in the 1970's.  She was a wonderful sweet woman.  My sympathy and prayers to her family.

I knew Miss Brittingham as a patient the students took care of. I was in and out of the hospital during the '60's and early '70's having corrective surgeries.
It was always great having the students taking care of me and the other patients in Peds. 
She and I became great pals during those years. If she knew I was in the hospital, she would make it a point to come by and see me even if she didn't have students.
I actually cried when she told me she was not going to be a nursing instructor.
My memories of her are good ones.

I had the privilege of spending 4 months at Harlaxton with Thelma and Dorothy in 1985. Great memories! I have thought of them often over the years. What a long and wonderful life Thelma had!

I always appreciated Thelma's presence in the Univ. of Evansville emeriti faculty.  She was friendly, gracious, optimistic.  For a number of years she was one of the callers for our programs.  As a caller, she was extraordinarily conscientious; she continued calling even after she could no longer attend programs.  We miss her presence.

I,too, was a student of Miss B.'s at Deaconess - class of 1964. We loved going to her classes. She made learning fun and we were so fortunate to have Peds with her at Deaconess instead of going to Indy. She was a wonderful lady and leaves behind many great memories.

Ms. Brittingham's committment to the practice of nursing inspired me at University of Evansville.  May God's peace comfort the family at this time of loss.

Miss B. was my peds instructor at Deaconess class 1964[frist classat Deaconess not  in Indy.] I then went to work  on peds  with  Miss B. I rememder her home as the " Hen  House" Our class gave her a charm of a little house. She was our class sponer. Truely a wounderful lady .I will always have fond memories of her. We are so sorry to hear of Aunt Thelm's passing.  Even though we never met Aunt Thelm we feel like we knew her from your wonderful stories about her.  We know you were a huge part of her life and you took wonderful care of her.  Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Thelma was a wonderful person.  It was obvious how kind and caring she was to everyone who came in contact with her.  My childhood memories of spending time with Thelma always bring smiles.

To Thelma's remaining family. I particularly treasure my memories of Thelma.  She was good to my family and made a big difference in so many people's lives.

Thelma was a part of our family for my entire life.  My life has been greatly enriched by knowing this exceptional lady.  My memory bank is full of her kindly pointing her finger while telling me a profound and lovely truth. 

Saw our first hummingbirds of the season the day she passed.  Oh how she and my Aunt Dorothy loved the hummers! 

What a very special lady she was.  We miss her already and look forward to seeing her on the other side.
