

Thomas Marion Anderson passed peacefully on July 2, 2026 at the Linda E. White Hospice House. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 23, 1942, to Francis and Anna B. (Chester) Anderson. He was a graduate of Washington High School in Indianapolis and attended Evansville College and Indiana State University.
Tom was an Industrial Arts teacher in the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation for 33 years. He left the classroom and transitioned to a position in administration for another 13 years. Then, he officially retired and became a caregiver for his wife.
Tom was a lifetime member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association and Perry Township Volunteer Fire Department. He was an active amateur radio operator for 30 years and participated in the Evansville Retired Teachers Association.
When his children were growing up, Tom spent his free time volunteering with the Vanderburgh County 4H program as a club leader and project superintendent. He also coached youth baseball and soccer teams and spent many nights selling tickets at high school football and basketball games. Later in life, Tom helped start a card group at the Linda White Hospice House and assisted at the annual Frog Follies street rod show.
Surviving Tom are his children Steven Anderson and Amy Woodard; son-in-law, Michael Woodard, grandchildren Kara (Carter), Sydney, and Blake; nieces and nephews, close friends, and a significant other, Karen Caruso, who cared for Tom until his passing.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Sandra K. Anderson, and a brother and sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Linda E. White Hospice House, Chemo Buddies, Vanderburgh County 4H Program, or a high school or college marching band of your choice.
Family would like to thank the many doctors, nurses, and medical staff who cared for Tom over this past year, especially the staff at Deaconess Hospice.
A Funeral Service will take place at Alexander Memorial Park, 2200 Mesker Park Drive, Evansville, IN 47720, US, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at 10:00 am. Friends and family may visit Monday, July 6, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel,2100 West Illinois Street, Evansville, IN 47712; and on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at Alexander Memorial Park.
