Twila Cheek Burke, 67, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017, at Linda E. White Hospice House. She was born August 30, 1950, in Greenfield, MO to the late Kenneth and Delpha Cheek.
She graduated from Bosse High School in 1968 the earned her Bachelor’s and Masters of Education from Indiana State University and Indiana State Terre Haute. Twila worked at Ellis Park for many years and retired from Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation. She was a member of Evansville Retired Teachers Association, ISTA (retired), NEA (retired), 3 Arts and Barker Avenue Primitive Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Twila was preceded in death by her brother, Mark Cheek; and parents.
She is survived by her son, Kyle (Mari) Burke; grandsons, Wyatt and Westen Burke; sisters, Marlene (Rich of Valparaiso, IN and Nancy Cheek of Clearwater, FL; brother, Rex (Darlene) of Zionsville, IN; sister-in-law, Paula Cheek; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Alexander Memorial Park Heritage Chapel, officiated by Pastor David Murphey, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends visited Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel.
