Valada A. Heseman, 91, of Evansville, IN passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital. She was born in Evansville, IN on September 1, 1928, to the late Carl and Roxanna (Riggs) Koenig.
Valada was a life-long member of Blue Grass United Methodist Church, where she was Past President of the United Methodist Women’s organization, where she started the Prayer Shawl Ministry. She was also a 4-H Leader. She graduated from Reitz High School. She met her husband, Howard, at the Blue Grass Community Center Roller Skating Rink while in high school. She received a Bachelor of Liberal Studies from the University of Evansville. Valada was the Administrative Assistant for the Vice President for Financial Affairs at the University of Evansville for over 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Howard Heseman; grandson, Daniel Ryan Heseman; and brother, Carl Richard Koenig.
Valada is survived by her two daughters, Rev. Janice Heseman of Evansville and Barbara Norden (Keith) of Norfolk, VA; son, Howard Heseman of Stendall, IN; grandchildren, Meghan Riggs Norden, and Gregory Wayne Heseman; sister, Mabel Kiefer; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at Blue Grass United Methodist Church, 14200 Peterburg Road, officiated by Rev. Doug Heiman, with burial to follow in Blue Grass Cemetery. Friends may visit Monday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Alexander East Chapel and Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
