

Van Walker Mills, 58, of Newburgh, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, at Deaconess Gateway. He stayed strong and selfless during his courageous two and a half year battle with cancer. He was born October 8, 1954, in Kentucky to the late Ray W. and Margaret (Davidson) Mills.
He graduated from Vincennes Lincoln High School where he played football. He had been employed with Bankers Life & Casualty and later began The Mills Agency. He loved golf and spending time with family, friends and clients.
Van is survived by his wife of 22 years, Lucinda “Cindy” Mills of Newburgh; children, Shelley (Kevin) Smith of Newburgh, Christine Swanson of Newburgh and Erik Parsons of Evansville; grandchildren, Zak and Aubrey Smith, Zoey Swanson and Ryan and Vincent Parsons; brother, Fad Mills of Vincennes; and sister, Hope Mills of Atlanta, GA.
Services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Troy Boulware. Friends may visit Friday from 2:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 11:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at St. Vincent Hospital, Dr. Krowiak and his team of surgeons, Evansville Cancer Center and the ER staff at Deaconess Gateway Hospital.
