Verda M. (Elsie) Miller, 87, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Holiday Retirement Village. She was born on May 4, 1932 in Kelleyville, Oklahoma to Alvie S. and Josie M. (Goldie) Norman.
She was very active with Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was a member of The Altar Guild. Verda was involved with Habitat for Lutherans and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies Society. She loved quilting and traveling. Verda traveled to Jerusalem and made many trips to Hawaii. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Verda was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ellis and Alvie Norman; her first husband, Richard Elsie; and daughter, Paula Kehrer.
She is survived by her husband of 23 years, Richard Miller; daughters, Leah Elsie, Portia Schlachter, and Piper Conati; sons, Richard Elsie Jr. (Gina), Peter Miller, Philip Miller (Cindy), Patrick Miller (Jennifer) and Vernon Curran; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and brothers, Delbert Norman (Emma Lou), Lee Norman (Dixie), and Hazel Jordan.
A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2019 at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 308 N. First Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47710 with Pastor James Culver officiating. Friends may visit Thursday 4-8pm at Alexander East Chapel.
