Vernon “Vern” Wells, 79, died peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Sunday, February 13, 2022. He was born on January 26, 1943, in Vincennes, IN to the late Coleman and Edna (Harting) Wells.
Vern graduated from North High School in 1961. He retired in 2000 from Bristol Myers after 34 years. Vern was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of the VFW. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he served on the board at Lutheran Cemetery. Vern enjoyed taking care of his family, traveling, and working outdoors.
Vern is survived by his wife of 50 years, Freda (Batson) Wells; son, Barry Wells; sister-in-laws, Tina Chappell and Mae McCloud; brother-in-law, Ernest Batson (Anna); and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Pastor Matthew Schilling, with burial in Lutheran Cemetery where military rites will be performed. Friends may visit Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Face masks are required.
