I worked with Virgil at the L&N way back in the early 1950's and always like him a lot.

I am deeply saddened by the news of this loss.  My condolences to "Aunt Martha" and the rest of the family on the passing of "Uncle Virgil".  The memories from visiting them on the farm will always hold a special place in my heart and mind!  I will never forget being able to go to their farm (which seemed like hours away) with grandma and grandpa Vogel.  Aunt Martha would always have some amazing dessert for us to eat, and Uncle Virgil would show us around the farm.  I can still picture that big old tree that they were both very fond of!  We would drive out to it and join hands and see just how many people it took to wrap around it!  On particularly special trips we even got to go into the old house on the front of the property...but watch out, you might fall in a hole! HAHAHA!  I will always remember Uncle Virgil as a kind hearted, caring, loving man who was a great role model for me.  It is through his fine example, I learned what it means to be an honorable gentleman!  Thank you Uncle Virgil for being a part of my childhood.  I will never forget you!  

God Bless you Aunt Martha for all you have done in this life!  You are truly one of God's angels!

Dear Martha, Rebecca, David, Hannah, Noah, Sarah, & your families,
You all are in my thoughts & prayers for the loss of a loved one so dear. I remember a trip down to Evansville and how wonderful your grandparents were to open their home & let us stay the night. And Virgil taking us way back in the pasture to see the ancient tree the next day. It is something that has stayed with me for years now. I hope at such a time your thoughts too can turn to all the good memories you all have had with him over the years. Love & care to you all!

These people are two of the most giving I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.  They were always there for my Ronnie- Hearts of Gold - Virgil you will always have a special spot in my heart and I know exactly where you are right now.  After 65 years together - Martha will join you one day and you will meet again and hold hands forever-  We dearly love you both.

We will cherish the memories in my heart forever.  Save me as seat next to you as "I'm a coming" and look forward to sharing a bowl of homemade strawberry ice-cream in Heaven.  All my Love Grandpa.
