Virginia Reed Johnson

She graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and moved to California where her career spanned 40 years in Hollywood including broadcasting and TV advertising.

She worked side by side with the legendary Lionel Barrymore and Agnes Morehead amongst other celebrities.

Virginia was a lifelong member of Pacific Pioneer Broadcasters Associations and UCLA Valley University Women and the Hollywood Bowl.

She and her husband enjoyed many travels abroad as well as reading novels and had a keen interest for art.

Upon moving here in 2008, Virginia dearly missed her bridge buddies, friends, and her home in Studio City, CA.

A special thank you goes to the caring staff at the Rathbone Retirement Community, especially to Stephanie, the staff of Westpark, and Southern Care Hospice.

She will be dearly missed by her nieces, Carol Reed Lannert and Leslie Reed Lindauer. They enjoyed many wonderful memories with her. Her vivacious wit and charm will be missed by many.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth P. Johnson; brother, John W. Reed; and her 22 year old cat, Sami Reed Johnson.

She is survived by her sister, Adelaide Reed Mayer, Hoover, AL; cousin, James Reed, Fredricktown , OH; nephews, Christopher Mayer, Birmingham, Steve Reed, Fredricktown, OH; nieces, Suzanne Mayer, Mt. Vernon, OH, Carol Reed Lannert, and Leslie Reed Lindauer, Jennifer Rueger, and Claudia Titzer; sister-in-law, Mary Jane Reed; many great and great-great nieces and nephews.

A private service will be held at a later date in Amity, Ohio.
