Virginia “Ginny” M. Short, 70, of Evansville, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, at Deaconess VNA Plus Hospice. She was born January 26, 1946, in Harlan County, KY, to the late Wilbur S. and Rita (Meyer) Beardsley.
Family was her top priority as she was always there to listen, care for, and encourage no matter the situation. She loved her family very much and enjoyed supporting them at all times. Ginny enjoyed traveling, visiting new places and meeting new people. She was compassionate, outgoing, and very much a people person.

She deeply cared about her customers and went out of her way to make all feel at home. A Ginny’s Place tradition was to hold an annual Mardi Gras celebration with Cajun food in a festive atmosphere while raising money for St. Jude.
Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; Aunt Blanche Broz; and two brothers, Raymond and James Morris.
She is survived by her daughters, Christi Werne, Kimberly Werne Allen, and Angela (Bill) Lensing; grandchildren, Skylar Werne, Samuel and Seth Allen, Austin, Jacob, Grace, and Hope Lensing; great-grandson, Jaidyn; sisters, June Tremper and Patricia Phillips; sister-in-law, Diane Morris; nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
