Walter Somers

Walter retired from Lensing Wholesale. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Darmstadt. He was an Army Veteran serving in WWII. Walter participated in the Honor Flight in April of 2016.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 63 years, Delores; and brothers, Tom Somers and Bud Somers.

Walter is survived by a son, Mark (Debbie) Somers of Haubstadt; daughter, Ruth (Robby) Carrier of Evansville; sister, Lois Kahre of Evansville; grandsons, Jason (Sara) Grey and Brandon (Kayla) Somers both of Evansville; granddaughter, Brittney Somers of Haubstadt; great-grandchildren, Ashlie (Zachary) Krietemeyer, Zachary Grey and Evelyn Somers; and great-great-grandsons, Aaron and Ryder Krietemeyer.

Due to the Coronavirus, a private visitation and service officiated by Rev. Stan Temme will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Trinity Lutheran Church, with burial in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Darmstadt. A video stream of the service will be at facebook.com/trinitylutherandarmstadt at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

The family would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to the staff at Wyndmoor Senior Living for the wonderful care during Walter’s time at Wyndmoor. Also, a special thanks to Deaconess VNA Hospice and Dr. Robert Rusche.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church Darmstadt or Deaconess VNA Hospice.
