He was born on April 29, 1940 in Evansville, Indiana to the late Virgen L. and Tinie Evelyn Oakley (Yancey). Warren graduated from Central High School in 1959. In 1964, he married his wife of 56 years, Virginia Oakley (Ellis) who preceded him in death earlier this year. After 36 years of service, he retired from ALCOA Warrick Operation, Aluminum Services in 2001. After retiring, he and Virginia followed their dream of moving to Florida where they resided until returning to Evansville in 2015.
Warren was an easy-going, fun-loving man who was known for his quick smile and story-telling. He is survived by a daughter, Becky Osborne (Ron); grandchildren, Katie Osborne (Nathan Burmeister) of Denton, TX; Emma, Ellie, and William Osborne; and one great grandchild, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James R. Oakley.
Visitation will be held 3:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, September 24, 2021 at Alexander North Chapel, 4200 Stringtown Road. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 25 at Alexander Memorial Park, Heritage Chapel.
