William Lay Brown

William "Bill" Lay Brown, age 50, of Evansville passed away on July 15, 2026 at his home. He was born on September 13, 1975 in Evansville, IN to the late William Lay Montgomery and Jeannette (Cooper) Brown.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Art and Bertha Cooper; sister, Kim Persinger; and niece, Brandy Nau.

He is survived by brothers, Leonard John Gunterman and Carroll Brown; sisters, Sherry Williams and Kelly Brown; children, Cassandra Brown, Lacey Brown and Christian Brown; longtime girlfriend, Betsy Wright; and several nieces and nephews.

Bill attended Castle High School. He worked as a roofer for 37 years, first with Lang Brothers, and later with Newton & Sons. He enjoyed playing video games. Bill loved country music and playing his guitar, especially with his niece, Analise.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 2:00 pm on Friday, July 31, 2026 at Alexander West Chapel, 2100 W. Illinois Street in Evansville. Friends may visit from Noon until service time on Friday at the funeral home.
