William "Bill" Gann, 97, Of Evansville passed away Thursday July 16,2026. He was born December 1, 1928 in Evansville, IN to William and Grace (Dawson) Gann. He will be remembered with deep respect for a life marked by steady devotion, capable hands, and a lasting love for the outdoors.
Bill retired from Kent Plastics. Beyond his working years, he found enduring satisfaction in the rhythms of the land and open air—enjoying farming, fishing, and hunting, tending a huge garden, and spending time golfing. He also loved to travel, especially to Naples, FL, and after being widowed he took a particular interest in traveling for genealogy purposes.
A gifted and practical craftsman, Bill built automobile models out of sheet copper and was great with woodworking and metals—a true handyman whose skill and care were evident in what he made and mended. His faith was central throughout his life; he was very devoted and attended yearly retreats at Trinity Lutheran Church of Darmstadt.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Betty (Hill) Gann; his parents, William and Grace; children, Gary Gann and Phillip Gann; sisters, Annabelle Johnson and Emma Gann; and brother Donald Gann.
He is survived by grandchildren, Michael Gann (Morgan Oberly) and Seth (Melody) Gann; daughters-in-law, Anitra Gann and Kim Steinbock; great-grandchildren, Charis Gann, Shelby Gann, Chase Gann; and niece Carol Nellis.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church of Darmstadt, officiated by Rev. James Glowinski. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at church.
