He was a mechanical design engineer who owned and operated United Fire Protection for 10 years before selling the business to Tri-State Fire Protection. Bill continued to work there until his retirement. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran and served in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict. Bill loved his family and had enjoyed coaching his young sons’ baseball teams. He formerly attended Methodist Temple and Christian Fellowship Church. Bill was a member of the Tri-State Tres Dias, Evansville Crysalis, and Kairos Teams. He was a wonderful man. Bill was known to lead people to Christ not because he preached to them but because of the life he lived. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting duck and deer, golf, and fishing. Bill especially enjoyed crappie fishing at Kentucky Lake and walleye fishing in Canada.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John McCune and Mike McCune; and sister, Bobbie Newman.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Brenda McCune; children, Bart McCune, Shanna Tyler, and Kevin McCune (Bethany); grandchildren, Tristan McCune, Payton Tyler, Reese Tyler, Katie Dick, Gracie Dick, and Carly Dick; sister, Ruth Newton; brother, Jim McCune (Barbara); and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at Alexander East Chapel officiated by Pastor David Niednagel. Friends may visit from noon until service time at the funeral home. Bill’s service will be livestreamed beginning at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday.
