I sat across from Bill many afternoons and evenings in the sergeants office preparing for roll call.  Bill was a good guy and was liked by the police officers that knew him and worked with him and for him. We lost another good one.

Bill was my childhood friend and no one could ask for a better friend than him.  As young kids, and later as teenagers, we spent a lot of time together with our mutual friend Gerald Brown.  The three of us were virtually inseparable.  Only our graduations from high school and the entry of all three of us shortly thereafter in the military, with Bill joining the Air Force and Gerald and myself  the Navy, could separate us.  Bill was truly a unique individual with a great sense of humor.  He always had a happy grin in his eyes and a joke on his lips.   I will always remember Bill's ready smile and loyalty to his friends.  He will be sorely missed by me and all who came to know him. I think a part of me has died with him.  From the depths of my heart I wish Bill "God speed" on his new adventure into eternity.

I apologize to Bills family. I erroneously posted Bill was married to Peggy Sims. That was another officer, Sgt.John Sims. My sincere apologies. Bill was a great human being and my heart goes out to his family.

Sgt. Simms was one of the nicest people I've met during 20 years on EPD.  From earlier post, it sounds like he got to see the country before he passed.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Bill Simms.  I only meet him once at his Mother, Margaret's funeral.  She was good friends of my Mother's through through their teen's. Our condolences to the family

I worked with Bill for a good number of years as a fellow Sergeant. He was the best to work with.  He will be missed.

Bill was a great guy, a very fair and level headed sergeant. Always willing to help another officer. Last I heard he and wife Peggy were traveling around the country in a motor home after their retirement, enjoying life to the fullest. So very sorry to hear of his passing. Rest in peace Bill.

Although we had not seen one another in several years, Bill and I were pretty much lifelong friends. We went through grade school together. We were Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts together. As adults, Bill sponsored me for membership in FOPA Lodge 73. I will always remember him as a warm and gentle man, yet one who could be firm when his police duties required it. Bill was a fine man and a good friend. I will remember him fondly. My sincere condolences to Susie and the family.
