Willie Mae Barnett Word

She was a retired supervisor with Indiana Division of Family and Children Services.

Willie was a very active member of Howell General Baptist Church; she always put others above herself. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Willie dearly loved her family, and also enjoyed gardening, specifically her roses, blackberries, and tomatoes.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; grandson, Clayton Newell; parents; and her sister, Wilma Grace.

Willie is survived by her son, Rick Word (Linda); daughter, Victoria Newell (David); grandchildren, Carla Word, Damien Word, Alex Newell, Bradley Newell, Marlena Stallings, Deborah Steinhauer, Gene Carroll; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and six nieces and nine nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 30, 2012 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Terry Gamblin with burial at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Sunday from 1:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home and on Monday from 1:00 PM until service time.
