

Wilmer William Wittmer, 80, of Evansville, IN, passed away on Saturday. December 12, 2020, at Deaconess Hospital Midtown. He was born January 23, 1940, in Loogootee, Indiana to the late William and Anna Wittmer.
Wilmer was the youngest of six children. He was raised of the Amish faith until he married the love of his life, Dora Dixon in 1961. Wilmer graduated from Loogootee High School and was a standout in basketball. He still holds the record for scoring 45 points in the old gym at Washington High school during the sectionals. He went on to graduate from Indiana State University and moved to Evansville, where he taught school at Reitz High School for 11 years and was the assistant coach under Jim Barnett. He then worked for Franklin Life Insurance, where he won many awards. He was a life-time member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He and Dora took many trips with the company and enjoyed visiting their condo in Long Boat Key. Wilmer never met a stranger and will be missed by many.
Wilmer is survived by his wife, Dora; sons, Brian and Shawn Wittmer (Andrea); and grandchildren, Tyler Wittmer of Taylor Mill, KY, Noah, Margo, Brayden and Adaline Wittmer, all from Evansville, Indiana.
Friends may visit Wednesday, December 16, 2020, from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Alexander West Chapel. A private funeral will be held at 1:00pm prior to the visitation and can be viewed at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA.
