

Kathleen Straughan – née Saville
February 29, 1920 ~ February 11, 2015
Kathleen (Kae) was the ninth child in a family of 11 children, 10 now deceased. Kae was born in Mendham, Suffolk, England. Her family emigrated back to Canada when she was age four and Kae grew up in Hardisty, Alberta. She was a telephone operator during WWII. In 1945 she married her husband Gordon (predeceased). Kae and Gordon lived in Mayerthorpe, Jasper, Edmonton, and Chicago before moving to Everett, WA in 1962. Kae loved music all her life; had a lovely singing voice; and played the piano for many sing-songs. She loved to entertain both family and friends in any type of gathering from a large dinner party to a bridge game. She was active in the Everett North Guild supporting Seattle Children's and as an Altar Guild member at every Episcopal church she attended.
Kae is survived by sons Brent (Frances), Michael (Betsy), and Bruce (Kathy) Straughan and daughter Keltie Wright (Richard). Also, survived by grandchildren – Enid (Josh) Daniel, Eric Larsen, and Donald (Kerry) Khoe, Jacqueline Straughan, Megan Straughan; Kyle Straughan, Peter Straughan; Evan Wright; and great grandchildren – Benjamin and Elizabeth Daniel and Jacob and Corwin Khoe. Preceded in death by her grandson Connor Wright.
Kae's memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church (913 - 2nd St., Snohomish, WA 98290) at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 7th with a reception following in the Parish Hall. Kae would like remembrances to go to either St. John's Episcopal Church Endowment Fund or to Seattle Children's, Seattle (designated for uncompensated care, P.O Box 5371, Seattle, WA 98145). Burial will be at Hardisty Cemetery, Hardisty, Alberta in the summer.
