

Millo (Mel) Shipley passed away on June 28, 2013 at the age of 86 and is now at peace in the arms of Jesus. He was born in Spokane Washington on November 6, 1926 to A Millo and Pearl Shipley. He moved to Snohomish at the age of 10. In 1943 he joined the US Navy, serving in the South Pacific as aviation ordnance bombardier. He married the lovely Mary Evelyn Bybee in 1946 and had two children, Nancy and Randy. Mel was honorably discharged from the Navy and had a career in Lake Stevens as a postal carrier where he retired after many years of service. Mel was a member of First Covenant Church for over 40 years and was an original member of the ChapelAires Quartet. He enjoyed singing, playing cards, flying, watching his son race cars, and spending time with family and friends who will miss him greatly.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Evelyn Shipley; daughter, Nancy; son Randy (Ila); best friend and brother-in-Christ George; two grandchildren, Mike (Angel), and Patti; six great grandchildren, Brittany, Nathan, Garrett, Heather, Thomas, and James (Stevie); one great-great granddaughter, Alexa; nephews, Jonny, Leonard, Glen; nieces, Cheryl (Mike), and Linda.
A memorial service for Mel will be held Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at First Covenant Church, 4502 Rucker Ave. Everett, Washington.
