

Nellie was born in a farm house in Elk Point, South Dakota. She was the first of 5 daughters born to Robert and Ethel French and had two older brothers. Her early years were spent in Vermillion, S. D. The French family moved to Washington in 1930 and Nellie graduated from Monroe High School in 1932. She married Randall Harbeck on January 8, 1933, lasting 59 ½ years. They made their home first in Pinehurst and later in Everett where they raised their two children, Edmond and Patricia. Retirement found them in Eastmont (S. Everett) and in the Arizona desert for many winters. Both Randall and Nellie were very active in Perpetual Help and St. Mary Magdalen parishes. Nellie was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Rita Court for 50 plus years. Nellie moved to California due to failing health and to be near her daughter. Besides Randall (1992) and her parents, Nellie was predeceased by her son Edmond (2003), her brothers Julius and Melvin French, sisters Geneva White and Audrey Doph. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Weber (Bob) of Brentwood, CA., daughter-in-law Vickie Harbeck, grandchildren Theresa Flores (Humberto), Gregory, Daniel, Timothy (Gail) Harbeck, her sisters Roberta Menzies, Florence Whitney (Maurice), eight great grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
