Sigfrid Eaton passed away from natural causes on December 25, 2013. She was born on May 2, 1925 in Ardalstangen, Norway. She was the oldest of seven children. She grew up on the family farm where her grandfather taught her how to herd goats. Sigfrid learned many skills from farm life including baking bread, growing a garden, sewing and crocheting, canning, cleaning and helping to raise her siblings. Sigfrid developed the fine Norwegian art of Rosemaling. She was a great cook and enjoyed baking.
In 1949 Sigfrid moved to Montana to live with other family members where she learned to speak English. She later met and married Palmer Hardeland, a handsome gentleman who was very popular among the ladies. The couple moved briefly to Chicago before returning to Montana. Sigfrid had four boys. In 1967 the family moved to Everett being employed by Boeing. Her and Palmer eventually divorced and she married Lawrence Eaton in 1972. Later in life Sigfrid learned to squaredance and LOVED IT! She and her husband traveled extensively in their RV and took the grandkids with them many places. Sigfrid continued her love for gardening, cooking, baking, needlework and loved being with her family. She especially loved the children.
She is survived by 4 sons; Einar (Vicki) Offerdahl of Big Fork, Montana, Alan (Donna) Hardeland of Stanwood, Washington, Palmer Jr. (Renae) Hardeland of Shelby, Montana, Tomas (Myra) Hardeland of Palmer, Alaska, 9 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, and husband of many years; Palmer Hardeland.
Sigfrid is proceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Eaton, both of her parents and all six of her siblings.
