graduated from De La Salle High School in 1976 and immediately starting working at Jewel
Foods where he was quickly appreciated for his impeccable work ethic. In 1980 he began his
career with National Car Rental where he rose through the ranks with an incredible eleven
promotions to become the Regional Operations Manager in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout his
career he made lifelong friends and influenced and inspired many people with his strength,
determination, compassion and generosity. He was a man who loved adventure and laughter
and was always ready with a joke and a smile.
Tony McCowan departed this life on August 13, 2018 peacefully in his home. He is survived by
his wife Colleen McCowan, daughter Amanda McCowan, sister Susan Brown, brother Tyrone
McCowan, mother-in-law Mary Jean Fichter, nieces and nephews; Yvonne Brown, Pamela
“Pam-a-nooch” Brown, Adrienne (Brown) Neals, Tyrone McCowan Jr., Margaret Fichter, Katie
(Fichter) Johnson, Billy Fichter, Emily Fichter, Abby Fichter, Stephen Patrick Fichter, Riley
Fichter, and Devin Fichter, great nieces and nephews; Aaron Brown, Kristin Brown, Kasey
Brown, Dominic “D.J.” Brown, Lavontay Cobb, and Zerrion Neals. He is preceded in death by
his mother Willie Mae Carr, aunt Stella Johnson, father-in-law Robert Fichter and brother-in-law
John Brown.
Tony McCowan was a one-of-a-kind soul who will deeply missed by all that loved him.
