Charles Gilbert Taylor Sr.

Charles Gilbert Taylor known as “Chuck” by many was born on November 23, 1938 in Chicago, Illinois to the late William and Evelyn Taylor. Charles was one of six born to this union.

Charles accepted Christ at an early age. He attended Wendell E. Phillips high school, Harold Washington College and Chicago State University.

On April 8, 1964 he met the love of his life Mary Clarice Jones. Their bond was inseparable and they were married four months later on August 1, 1964.

After many dedicated years as a Child care worker Charles retired from Daniel J. Nellum Youth Services an entity that cares for young males that are in the states care.

Charles was an avid fisherman all of his life and he enjoyed fishing with his family from Illinois to Canada catching various types of fish such as Salmon, Catfish, Perch and Carp.

On May 29, 2016 God laid Charles down gently to rest after suffering from complications of a stroke.

Charles leaves to cherish his loving memory wife of 52 years Mary C. Taylor; three children Charles G. Taylor Jr., Jacquelynn M. Taylor and Ericka Taylor; five grandchildren Tyonna “Poota” Taylor, Da’Sean Williams, Henry Willams Jr., Javiaun Smith and Aziyah Smith; one great grandson Dayton Sanders; three sisters Theresa Pumphrey, Evelyn Taylor and Vanessa Dotison; two brothers William “Bill” Taylor Jr. his wife Jackie and Robert Taylor Sr.; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and treasured friends.
