Dad,

“Coffee’s ready!”

We were never big on talking about our feelings out loud. We left notes for each other because that was our style because taking about feelings is hard and that was our way.

I hate that this the last note I get to send you. Sharon, Dani and I found all of the notes, cards, and pictures that we wrote you over the years. We had no idea that you saved them all. I knew that you loved us, but finding those amplified the level of love that you genuinely had for all of us.

Much like the note you saved from so many years ago I’m attaching, that you saved all of these years, the message still rings 100+% true; I love you and have always appreciated everything you did for us and always did for us. You gave up so much and devoted your life to us. That level of dedication and love can never be matched, ever.

I thank you you for always being there for us. For being our biggest advocate, fan, friend, and teacher.

I inherited your absolute stubbornness and strong will and I’m so grateful. We butted heads but we always loved each other at the end of the day.

I started cooking to have dinner ready for you when you came home from work so you didn’t have to call from your fancy car phone to ask what we wanted for dinner. You never complained that we had spaghetti 4x a week either! I love cooking to this day and I head the lesson you learned that high heat doesn’t make food cook faster. I will miss your homemade egg foo young, honey chicken and freezing me the ugly minestrone. And when I clean with bleach, I will always remember you mislabeling a bottle as “blech.”

I can ramble on and on. But Dad, thank you for everything you did, ALWAYS.

I am going to miss you more than words can say and I will miss your laugh most of all. I love you so much.

Kelly

Sweet Cousin Gene,
I will always have in my heart fond, funny memories of you. I remember one time you locked me out of the house and I pounded on the front door telling you I needed to go to the restroom and you opened the door wide enough to hand me a plastic cup and one square of toilet paper. You were rationing our TP before it was popular. Ha! Your funny humor and wonderful laugh will be missed. Enjoy God’s Paradise Sweet Cuz! Love Always, Cousin Torie

I love you dad. You were not only my hero, my rock, and the glue that held our tiny family together but you were truly my best friend. You took on raising Dani as if she were your own. You taught me everything from working on cars, took me to shoot my first gun, to ride and love motorcycles and appreciate old cars. Everyone who met you said I was definitely “my Father’s daughter” and I couldn’t be more proud to hear that because I’ve never known a more loving and devoted person than I saw in you. I love you dad. Please keep us safe and help us keep going because I wasn’t ready to lose my #1.
