From Robert:
My favorite memories with dad are all the adventures we went on together. Camping at Devils Lake, boating and fishing in Arkansas, and all our epic Alaskan fishing trips. He just recently took Jacob on his first train ride in Alaska. He was always so happy to share moments in life with his family and friends. Dad's spirit lives on inside all of us who were lucky enough to spend time with him while he was here. And I know he will be right there with me and my boys every time we head out to sea, looking for that next big fish. We love you and are going to miss you dad.
From Eric:
My Dad, the always right perpetual smartass! One might wonder how I became the man I am today, unless you met my father. He always had a witty or smartass comment for everything. The only man who can throw them back faster than I can dish them out. A worthy advisary.
My Dad was the life of the party and of course always number one, even when he wasn’t. You would likely know this because he either told you, or was already walking around with that "number one" finger in the air. It didn’t matter if it was playing bags or mowing the lawn, he was going to beat you.
My Dad was always right too! If you mow vertically then horizontal is actually better for the lawn. If you wiped windows side to side, then up and down was probably more efficient. He was always so wise ;).
My Dad was the guy who when questioned at Dominic's where the fistful of pistachios he was eating came from, would simply point to the open barrels of nuts and comment, "Free Samples"!
My Dad was the guy who even after asking to take it easy on the tubing that day on Lake Norfolk, would less than five minutes later have you six feet in the air praying for fewer than five skips across the water.
He was that dad who quickly realized four children may have been a huge financial mistake and compensated by making the Drive-In and Brookfield zoo into an intense border crossing experience smuggling his children under a blanket in the trunk of the minivan just to save a buck….Two adults, no kids and a whispering blanket in the trunk....not suspicious at all.
Pay for food in Comiskey Park? Yeah Right. You better believe we'd have that little cooler full of hotdogs wrapped in tinfoil out in the parking lot waiting for us… Maybe a churro if we were lucky
My dad was an awesome dad, and he will be missed. Don’t cry because it's over, smile because it happened.
From Marissa:
Rob will be remembered fondly for his playful, bright personality that truly shined when surrounded by his family. He was a provider, and a loving guardian for all his children and grandchildren. The world will miss his goofy smile, and constant stream of dad jokes. Our hearts are broken, but we will meet again someday.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday July 27th at Kenny Brothers Funeral Home 3600 W. 95th Street, Evergreen Park, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a Prayer Service to begin at 7:00pm
