Wilburn (“Lil Will”) H. Curry, Jr. was born June 7, 1971 in Chicago, Illinois. He was the only child born to the union of Wilburn H. Curry, Sr. and the late Cynthia Curry. Will was the pride of his parents. He was a shy, lovable, kind-hearted child and continued these and other positive traits throughout his life.
Will attended and graduated from Mendel Catholic High School where he played Football and was a member of the Wrestling Team. Will was employed with the Target Corporation for over ten years.
Will later became fascinated with body art and was full of tattoos. He could talk at length regarding his interests in African / Egyptian culture, art, horror movies, and music of all genres. Specifically heavy metal and hip-hop. Will was also known to relax to the sounds of Erykah Badu and Angela Bofill.
Will loved to cook and had a fondness for Giordano’s Pizza, weight lifting and collecting Comic Books. In addition to his playful / joking personality, he kept a positive spirit, respectful attitude and was never confrontational. He will always be remembered and surely missed.
Will departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 2pm in Southern California. He was preceded in death by his mother Cynthia Inez Smith; maternal grandparents Kelly and Louise Ferguson and paternal grandmother Pandora Curry.
Will is survived by his son, Damien Curry; father, Wilburn H. Curry, Sr. (Darlene Curry); step brother, Devon Ingram and life partner Catherine Villegas (her sons Salvador and Manolo); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Given the challenges, losses and adversities of life, Will never portrayed any characteristics that allowed his actions to deviate from the wonderful values instilled in him by his parents, family, friends, life and his creator. His uniqueness to himself and acceptance of others taught us how to live. We thank him for impacting our lives and our memories and love for him shall remain forever.
